Pedestrian critically injured in Bethany Beach crash

BETHANY BEACH, Delaware — A pedestrian was gravely injured in a car wreck in Bethany Beach.

Delaware police say the crash occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday when a car struck 67-year-old Miguel Rivera Oropeza, who was walking in the right lane of the Coastal Highway without lights or reflective clothing.

Police say Oropeza was airlifted to a hospital where he is in critical condition.

The driver, 57-year-old Carl Roma, was uninjured however he was intoxicated at the time of the wreck and was charged with driving under the influence and failing to provide proof of insurance.
