RICHMOND, Virginia — Alonzo Nelson-Ododa had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Richmond beat Saint Bonaventure 60-41 on Sunday.
Kendall Anthony led Richmond with 13 points while T.J. Cline and Shawn'Dre Jones added 11 points apiece for the Spiders (9-7, 2-1 Atlantic 10). Richmond used a 20-10 run in the second half to turn the defensive struggle in its direction.
Andell Cumberbatch scored 10 to lead the Bonnies (8-6, 1-2). Saint Bonaventure shot 33 percent (18 of 55), made just seven field goals in the second half and missed all 10 of its shots from 3-point territory. The Spiders, by contrast, were 7 for 21 from long range and shot 48 percent overall (23 of 48).
Richmond led 29-25 early in the second half before a driving basket be Nelson-Ododa sparked a 20-10 burst. Cline added a 3-pointer and Jones added two from long-range. He finished 3 for 6 from behind the arc, all in the second half.
The Bonnies trailed 10-4 before a 12-3 run gave them a 16-13 advantage. The Spiders closed the half on an 8-3 burst to lead 25-23 at the intermission.
St. Bonaventure: Bonnies 7-footer Youssou Ndoye played just two first-half minutes because of foul trouble and finished the game with four points and six rebounds.
Richmond: Cline also played just two first-half minutes, but scored eight points and hit two 3-pointers after halftime.
St. Bonaventure hosts George Mason on Tuesday night.
Richmond plays at George Washington on Wednesday night.
