SYRACUSE, New York — Three people are dead and two people are critical injured after a string of shootings this weekend in Syracuse.
Police say the latest shooting — around 6:15 p.m. Sunday on Holden Street — killed a 34-year-old man injured a 33-year-old man so severely he required emergency surgery.
That followed a shooting early Sunday on South Wilbur Avenue that killed Juan Fuentes-Diaz. Police say the 28-year-old was found on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds.
A shooting Friday evening on Kellogg Street killed 22-year-old Juan Martinez and left a 15-year-old boy critically injured with bullet fragments near his spine.
Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan says the victims appeared to be targeted but that it was unclear if the three shootings were connected. He says the investigations are continuing.
