DETROIT — Public information meetings have been scheduled ahead of track construction for Detroit's light rail project.
Businesses are invited to an 8 a.m. Wednesday session at the M-Rail office at 1426 Woodward Avenue. A community update is scheduled for 6 p.m. at The Madison, 1555 Broadway Street.
Meetings also are scheduled for July 9. Each session will give details about construction and detours.
Crews are expected to begin work July 28 on the rail's tracks. The entire 3.3-mile, $140-million streetcar project is scheduled for completion in 2016 and will extend north from downtown to Detroit's New Center area.
It is expected to spur economic and job growth along the Woodward Corridor.
