LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — An Opelousas man has pleaded guilty to hiding his bail bonds business income during bankruptcy proceedings.

U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley, in a news release, that 67-year-old Kirby L. Daigle entered a conditional guilty plea Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge C. Michael Hill to one count of making a false statement under penalty of perjury during bankruptcy proceedings.

The plea will become final when accepted by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote.

Daigle faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is set for Sept. 19.
