BARCELONA, Spain — Elche won 3-2 at Rayo Vallecano for its first victory of the Spanish league season on Sunday.
Left back Edu Albacar opened for Elche in the 37th minute when he dipped a free kick onto the grass and past goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez.
Former Chelsea forward Gael Kakuta took Alberto Bueno's long pass, cut back and slotted in the hosts' equalizer in the 45th.
But Elche striker Jonathas Cristian de Jesus went past Rayo's center backs to fire in a long strike in the 55th, and Pedro Mosquera's deflected shot went in off the post in the 69th.
Bueno scored Rayo's second goal in stoppage time from the penalty spot after Albacar handled the ball in the area.
It was Rayo's first loss of the season after drawing in the first two rounds.
