AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine officials say the state's jobless rate remained flat at 4.7 percent last month.
The Maine Department of Labor said Tuesday that the unemployment rate for June was unchanged from the previous two months.
June's rate was down from 5.7 percent a year ago. The number of people who were unemployed last month declined 6,900 over the year to 32,800.
The national unemployment rate was 5.3 percent, down slightly from 5.5 percent in May.
New England's unemployment rate was 4.8 percent. Maine's unemployment rate was higher than the rates in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. Connecticut and Rhode Island had the highest unemployment rates in the region at 5.7 percent and 5.9 percent, respectively.
