JACKSON, Mississippi — Officials in Jackson say a major access road to the state Fairgrounds is expected to reopen to traffic on Friday.

WLBT-TV reports ( ) Jefferson Street from Amite Street to Mississippi Street has been blocked for several weeks.

Contractors working on the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and the Museum of Mississippi History have been installing sewer and storm drain lines.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the Mississippi State Fair, which opens on Oct. 1.
