Woman dies in Seward Highway van crash near Girdwood; man taken to Anchorage hospital

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A woman has died of injuries suffered in a van crash Wednesday night on the Seward Highway.

KTUU-TV (http://bit.ly/1mNFH6r) reports the crash was about a mile south of the turnoff to the Alyeska Highway in Girdwood.

Alaska State Troopers say the northbound van shortly after 8 p.m. crossed the southbound lane, hit a guardrail, overturned and landed in the middle of the highway.

The woman was ejected and the van landed on her. She was declared dead at the scene.

Notification of next of kin is pending and the woman's name has not been released.

A man in the van was taken to a hospital.
