UTICA, New York — A 54-year-old former supervisor for a central New York town has pleaded guilty in Oneida County Court to misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

Former Trenton Town Supervisor Mark Scheidelman was sentenced to three years probation on Friday in Oneida County Court.

Two years ago, a jury convicted Scheidelman of first-degree sexual abuse after he was charged with having sexual contact with a child younger than 11. Police said the abuse occurred at his home.

Scheidelman served all but five months of his two-year sentence before an appellate court reversed the conviction, stating that the conduct of the prosecutor, First Assistant District Attorney Dawn Catera Lupi, prejudiced the jury against him.
