OLVIE BRANCH, Mississippi — Olive Branch officials want to sell naming rights on its sports complexes and parks.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/1yEWChv) the decision came Tuesday and followed Southaven's signing of a $1 million, 10-year deal with BankPlus for naming rights at Snowden Grove Park.

Olive Branch will have to get approval of the Legislature to enter into a deal with a business or organization. The city is drafting legislation for that purpose.

Mayor Scott Phillips suggested ball fields or other sites at City Park could be part of a naming-rights deal.

It's too early to tell how much Olive Branch might get for naming rights, but officials say the money would go into the general fund and could be tied to a specific project.
