MONTCLAIR, California — San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies have killed a man they say pointed a rifle at them, which turned out to be a pellet gun.
Fifty-two-year-old Ernesto Flores died Wednesday in the Montclair area.
His daughter, Yohana Flores, tells the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin (http://bit.ly/1E9TJsi ) that she called 911 to report her father had been breaking things, threatening to blow up his house and had a BB gun.
But a Sheriff's Department statement says the caller only reported the man had a gun.
During a 90-minute standoff, Flores broke windows and started a fire before stepping outside with a knife and the rifle.
He was knocked down with bean bag rounds. Authorities say Flores was shot when he appeared to point the rifle at deputies.
