VILLE PLATTE, Louisiana — A Ville Platte man arrested in the death of his grandmother in November has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder.
The Evangeline Parish District Attorney's Office tells KATC-TV (http://bit.ly/1I4T8qb ) that the trial for Christopher Goodley has been set for June 8. Goodley pleaded not guilty on Thursday.
If convicted, Goodley would face a mandatory life sentence.
Goodley's grandmother, Delsy Williams, was reported missing on Nov. 1 after she did not answer several phone calls from family members. A farmer found her dead in a field off Louisiana Highway 29 in Evangeline Parish the next day.
