THORNTON, Colorado — A deadly house explosion last month in Thornton may have been intentional. That's according to Thornton Police Chief Randy Nelson.

The Denver Post reports (http://dpo.st/1tTGh6u ) that Nelson says the home's gas line was intentionally tampered with before the June 19 blast.

The blast killed 59-year-old Gary Lee Pine.

Nelson made the remarks at a community meeting Wednesday to discuss the investigation.

Nelson says a flexible gas line was intentionally removed and a pair of pliers was found near the furnace.

He dismissed speculation that drug production caused the explosion. He says the investigation is ongoing.
