MONTPELIER, Vermont — Hunters still have a chance to make a bid in Vermont's moose hunt auction.

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department will be taking bids for five moose hunting permits through Thursday afternoon. Bids must be at least $1,500 and be entered with a sealed bid form from the department. The winners will be notified on Friday.

They will be able to hunt during one of the October moose hunting seasons, picking the archery season from October 1-7 or the regular season from October 17-22.

The bids do not include the cost of a hunting license — $25 for residents and $100 for out-of-staters — or the moose hunting permit fee — which is $100 for residents and $350 for nonresidents.
