DeSoto schools to hold ribbon-cutting at Southaven High addition

SOUTHAVEN, Mississippi — DeSoto County School District is holding a public ribbon-cutting for the new 9th Grade Academy at Southaven High School.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the high school auditorium.

The academy is a 25-classroom building designed to accommodate 550 students. It was added to handle growth at the school, the largest in the DeSoto system.

Classes at DeSoto schools begin Thursday.
