HAMMOND, Louisiana — A 14-year-old Hammond boy faces terrorizing charges in connection with an early morning online post.
WVUE-TV (http://bit.ly/1LAOFhg ) reports FBI spokesman Craig Betbeze said during a news conference Tuesday that the threat referenced an unidentified school in Hammond. He says the FBI used its cyber capabilities to pinpoint where the threat originated, then turned the results over to the Hammond Police Department and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards says the posting included a cartoon character with an AK-47 and said if you go to school in Hammond, it would be best not to go tomorrow.
Local authorities were not convinced the teen actually planned to commit any violence.
Still, they said the investigation would continue.
The teen remains in custody and has been cooperating with investigators.
