CLEVELAND — The Indians have recalled slugger Jesus Aguilar from Triple-A Columbus.

Aguilar is in Cleveland's lineup at first and will bat seventh on Friday night against the Chicago White Sox. The 25-year-old was leading the International League with 66 RBIs, and the Indians are hoping he can provide some pop for their sluggish offense. He hit 13 homers for the Clippers.

He appeared in 19 games for the Indians last season, batting .121 in a reserve role. Since June 1, he has batted .278 with seven homers and 42 RBIs in 46 games.

To make room for Aguilar, the Indians optioned left-hander Kyle Crockett to Columbus.

The Indians remain in the AL wild-card race despite having one of the league's weakest offenses.
