FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — The University of Arkansas baseball team will begin play in the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament as the fifth seed. The 20th-ranked Razorbacks play Tennessee Tuesday evening.
The Volunteers are the tournament's 12th seed.
Arkansas did not lose an SEC series over the last eight weeks. It had seven series wins and also split a short series with Tennessee.
The Razorbacks expect to start right-hander Trey Killian (2-4) in the tournament opener. Left-hander Andy Cox (3-3) is expected to start for Tennessee.
Arkansas is seeking its first SEC tournament championship after finishing as runnerup to Auburn in 1998, Alabama in 1999 and Vanderbilt in 2007.
In its last 18 games against Tennessee, Arkansas has won 14.
If Arkansas wins, it will play No. 4 seed Florida on Wednesday.
