MIAMI — Hurricane Andres remains a Category 2 storm in the eastern Pacific, but still poses no threat to land.

The first named storm of the season had maximum sustained winds of 105 mph (165 kph) Saturday afternoon. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami is forecasting little change in the storm's strength until Sunday, when it is expected to weaken gradually.

Andres is centered about 700 miles (1,125 kilometers) off the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico, and is moving northwest at 8 mph (13 kph).
