MOBILE, Alabama — Forecasters say there's a chance for damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes as severe storms form over south Alabama.

The National Weather Service said the threat of severe weather will begin Saturday and continue into Saturday night ahead of an approaching cold front.

The weather service in a hazardous weather outlook that some flooding might also occur, particularly in urban areas and places with poor drainage. The weather service projects that up to 2 inches of rain is possible across south Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

The weather service said the heaviest rain is expected along and northwest of Interstate 65 in south Alabama.
