DEVILS LAKE, North Dakota — A North Dakota district judge says he is stepping down after 30 years on the bench.
Northeast District Judge Lee Christofferson says he is retiring on Dec. 31. He took over the job in 1986 after Judge Douglas Heen retired.
Christofferson grew up in Bisbee. He was a social worker for about 10 years, including seven as a probation officer, before deciding to attend law school at Syracuse. He was admitted to the North Dakota bar in 1983.
There are 11 counties in the district, which is based in Devils Lake.
