DURHAM, New Hampshire — University of New Hampshire officials say unexpected delays will push the opening of the school's new outdoor pool to August 2016, months after its anticipated spring opening.
Foster's Daily Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1S9IC5N ) a letter from UNH Campus Recreation Director Stacey Hall stated that the replacement of the culvert for the Pettee Brook took longer than expected and caused the delay.
Construction on the $4.5 million pool project began in May. Officials say work on the pool will continue into the winter, weather permitting.
Hall indicated the August 2016 completion date depends upon the severity of the upcoming winter and when crews can get back to work this spring.
Plans call for the 14,335-square-foot pool to accommodate eight 25-yard swimming lanes along with a teaching area, play area and deep end.
