ST. PETERSBURG, Florida — A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed two people.

A Pinellas County judge sentenced 23-year-old Timothy Michael Deacon on Friday. He pleaded no contest in June to two counts of DUI manslaughter and one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

Authorities say Deacon was drunk in January 2013 when his truck jumped a curb on a St. Petersburg street and hit 67-year-old Gloria Mastell and 71-year-old Roger Wurr, who had been out for an evening walk. Deacon fled, but a witness had written down his license plate number.

The Tampa Bay Times ( ) reports that Mastell died at the scene, and Wurr died several days later in a hospital.
