RICHMOND, Kentucky — Corey Walden scored Eastern Kentucky's final 10 points and finished with a career-high 35 to lead the Colonels in a 70-67 victory over Tennessee Tech on Saturday, securing the No. 2 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
Walden converted a three-point play for a 66-60 advantage, but Torrance Rowe answered on the other end with a basket, and Javon McKay hit a 3 for a one-point game with 58 seconds remaining. Walden made a layup, then grabbed the defensive board after the Golden Eagles missed a shot from distance. He was sent to the line and converted both to ice the game.
Walden shot 11 of 14 from the floor, 13 of 15 from the free-throw line, and finished with five steals for EKU (19-10, 11-5).
Rowe scored 16 points for the Golden Eagles (12-18, 4-12).
