DENVER — Colorado's Mount Evans Road, which winds to the top of one of the state's 14,000-foot peaks, has reopened after construction forced drivers to find another route.

The Denver Post reports ( ) that the road reopened Tuesday after the Colorado Department of Transportation completed its stabilization project above Lincoln Lake.

CDOT officials say they will extend the road's season until the first significant snowfall. Typically the roadway from Summit Lake to the top of Mount Evans closes after Labor Day.
