TUCSON, Arizona — A man has been accused of animal cruelty after Pima County Sheriff's deputies found six dogs left unattended in his truck in 102-degree weather.

Sheriff's officials say 65-year-old James Hutchinson has been booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on suspicion of six counts of cruelty to animals.

Deputies say the dogs were found Wednesday in the parking lot of a Tucson hotel.

They say four dogs were in crates in the bed of the truck and two others were inside the cab with the windows rolled down about four inches.

Pima Animal Care Center was called to respond and pick up the animals.

Hutchinson was arrested after he returned to the Red Roof Inn.

It's unclear if he has a lawyer yet for his case.
