NEWARK, Delaware — Delaware State Police say a Wilmington man has been struck by a car and killed while crossing Interstate-95 on foot in Newark.

Police say 22-year-old Thomas Killen of Wilmington was crossing the southbound lanes of I-95 when he was struck by a car just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Investigators say alcohol is believed to be a factor on the part of Killen.

Police say Killen's body was thrown onto the hood and windshield of the vehicle before landing on the roadway against a concrete barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A driver and three adult passengers in the car that struck the pedestrian were wearing seatbelts and were not injured in the crash.

No charges have been filed in the case.
