CELINA, Ohio — One of two men charged in the 2011 home-invasion slayings of a disabled man and his caretaker daughter in western Ohio has been sentenced to life in prison.

Twenty-three-year-old Bryant Rhoades was charged in March 2013 for killing 47-year-old Colleen Grube and her 70-year-old father Robert Grube. They were found dead and bound by duct tape in November 2011 in their ransacked Mercer County farm home.

The Lima News reports (http://bit.ly/1q8gIav) Rhoades pleaded guilty Tuesday, after he originally backed out of a first plea deal attempt and demanded a trial. The prosecution sought the death penalty for Rhodes but agreed to the plea deal sparing his life.

Rhoades' co-defendant Trevin Sanders, who was 17 at the time of the crime, has also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
