BILLINGS, Montana — A Billings man is charged with breaking into his former employer's house and trying to steal $14,000.
Yellowstone County prosecutors say the homeowner disarmed Roger Acey Hoppe and held him at gunpoint in his bath tub until deputies arrived.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1z9IyqC ) Hoppe was charged Monday with felony burglary and theft. Justice of the Peace David Carter set bond at $10,000 and scheduled Hoppe's arraignment for Feb. 6.
The homeowner told deputies he was in a hot tub Friday evening when he heard something in the house. He went inside and found Hoppe with one of his guns.
Court records say deputies found Hoppe had more than $14,000 in cash he had apparently taken from his former boss. Deputies say Hoppe told them he committed the break-in out of desperation.
