OXFORD, Mississippi — Early signs are that charging for parking is paying off for the city of Oxford.
The Oxford Eagle reported (http://bit.ly/1Ao5e82 ) that as of Friday, the city had raised $5,275 from the meters that went live on Tuesday at premium spots around the town Square.
Parking Director Matt Davis reported to the Oxford Downtown Parking Commission that the parking officers wrote 122 tickets for overtime parking in the first three days of Oxford's new paid-parking system.
Davis said his office received a few complaints, but that for the most part, the first three days went smoothly.
