HANOVER, Virginia — A Richmond man faces life in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in the slaying of a cab driver.

Media outlets report that 21-year-old Dyshawn Simpson entered his plea on Tuesday in Hanover Circuit Court. Under a plea agreement, Simpson will serve a life sentence. Other charges were dropped.

Simpson and co-defendant Alisa N. Dejesus were charged with killing 26-year-old James Wells in August 2014. Dejesus is scheduled to stand trial in December.

Authorities say Wells was abducted, stabbed multiple times and burned to death inside the tax he used to transport Simpson and Dejseus.
