DALLAS — Dallas police say an off-duty officer shot one of two men who died following a confrontation between people in separate vehicles at a gas station.
Police said in a statement that the confrontation early Wednesday resulted in gunfire. One of the cars raced away but then struck vehicles parked nearby. A man was found dead inside the car.
People in the second vehicle attempted to flee when the off-duty officer approached after seeing the disturbance. Authorities say the officer shot an armed suspect in that vehicle whose actions made the officer "believe he was in imminent danger."
The wounded man attempted to drive away but his vehicle struck cars parked at a nearby restaurant. He died at the scene.
None of the people involved have been identified.
