ELMORE, Vermont — Vermont state police and a park ranger came to the rescue of a female hiker who was stranded in severe weather on Elmore Mountain.

The woman called 911 at about 8:30 Saturday night to say she was unable to get back down the mountain and did not have a flashlight or gear to spend the night.

Troopers Brian Connor and Andrew Collier, along with a state park ranger, hiked more than two miles up Ridge Trail on Elmore Mountain before finding the hiker.

Police say she was in good spirits, but was cold and drenched. They gave her rain gear and the four made a slow descent.

The hiker was not identified. Police say she did not require medical attention.
