SALT LAKE CITY — A judge is considering whether a Colorado teenager accused in his girlfriend's 2012 beating death should be tried as an adult in Utah.
Judge Dane Nolan did not set a deadline Monday for a ruling on whether the 17-year-old would go to adult prison if he's convicted in Anne Kasprzak's 2012 death south of Salt Lake City.
The Associated Press is not naming the defendant because he is a juvenile.
Prosecutors say he was 14 when he killed the 15-year-old girl and dumped her body in the Jordan River after he heard she was pregnant, though it turned out she lied.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1BkzSDx) defense attorneys say there's no evidence of premeditation and the defendant would have a better chance at rehabilitation in juvenile court.
