POCATELLO, Idaho — Idaho State University has given football coach Mike Kramer a three-year contract extension.
ISU athletic director Jeff Tingey announced Wednesday that the extension would keep Kramer at the university through the 2017 season. It still must be approved by the State Board of Education.
Tingey says Kramer took over the Bengal football program at a tough time and has overseen improved academic performance and community involvement.
Kramer says the team's on-field results continue to improve and he thanked the administration for having faith in his plan for the program.
Idaho State has a 3-3 record this season, including a 56-53 loss at Eastern Washington, which is ranked second in the FCS.
Kramer coached Eastern Washington to a Big Sky Conference championship in 1997 and tied for three at Montana State in 2002, 2003 and 2005. His overall record as a head coach in the Big Sky is 86-106.
