      HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Dakarai Henderson and Marcus Burwell came off the bench to combine for 31 points and lead Sam Houston State to a dominating 102-47 victory over Division III Howard Payne on Monday night.

      Henderson, who had 16 points, hit 3 of 6 from long range and Burwell nailed 4 of 6 3s as Sam Houston State was hot from outside, making 15 of 34 attempts (44.1 percent). The Bearkats made 38 of 70 field goal attempts (54.3 percent) while limiting Howard Payne to 17-of-56 shooting (30.4 percent).

      Sam Houston jumped out to a 25-7 lead midway of the first half, led 56-16 at the break and coasted to the victory. The Yellow Jackets never challenged.

      DeMarcus Gatlin added 13 points and Kaheem Ransom chipped in 11 for SHSU (8-4).

      Khyce Randall had 13 points for Howard Payne.
