BEND, Oregon — An activist group in Bend may appeal to force Oregon State University to conduct a long-term plan for property adjacent to its future Cascades campus.

The Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/1NAaiQw) a three-judge Oregon Court of Appeals panel on Wednesday upheld a previous ruling by land use officials who determined the university should not have to account for the nearby acreage.

The adjacent site is an option for future expansion, but the university says it may never buy it.

Truth in Site can appeal to the state Supreme Court. The group's Portland land use lawyer Jeff Kleinman says the court considers hearing cases that have significant issues at stake.

An appeal has to be filed within 35 days.

Oregon's Cascades campus will likely open in a year.
