HENDERSON, Louisiana — An Interstate 10 traffic stop in St. Martin Parish has resulted in the seizure of more than 300 pounds of marijuana and over $4,000 in cash.

Louisiana State Police say Wednesday's discovery happened shortly before 1 a.m. near Henderson.

Authorities say troopers on routine patrol saw the Ford F150 pickup commit a traffic violation. Upon speaking with the driver, 36-year-old Herbert Harper, of LaPlace, troopers became suspicious of his behavior and asked a K-9 officer to respond. After the dog alerted positively on the truck, troopers found about 344 pounds of marijuana and $4,177.

Harper and his passenger, 22-year-old Terrill James, of Mobile, Alabama, were booked with possession of marijuana over 400 grams. It was unknown if either man has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
