ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — A man has pleaded guilty to robbing two Albuquerque banks.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for New Mexico says 21-year-old Joshua Abeyta entered the plea Friday to two counts of bank robbery and will be detained pending his sentencing.

Abeyta, of Rio Rancho, faces up to 20 years in prison.

According to court documents, Abeyta robbed a Bank of Albuquerque branch inside an Albertson's supermarket in June and a second location in July.

In both incidents, Abeyta allegedly demanded cash by passing a threatening note to a teller and he was assisted by 26-year-old Angelica Donna Casados.

Casados has pleaded not guilty to the same charges and will go on trial Nov. 17.
