DALLAS, Georgia — Authorities in Georgia have identified a man who was fatally shot by sheriff's deputies.
Paulding County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ashley Henson says deputies shot 39-year-old William Tarrant on Friday afternoon. Henson says deputies had gone to a home in Dallas because of a domestic dispute and then called in child welfare officials and a unit that investigates crimes against children.
Henson said Tarrant drew a handgun and pointed it at deputies after authorities determined his child needed to be removed from the home.
The deputies then shot and killed Tarrant.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was investigating the shooting death.
