DECATUR, Indiana — The body of a kayaker missing for nearly three days has been recovered from a northeastern Indiana river.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says members the Decatur Fire Department recovered the body of 54-year-old Steve Seitz of Decatur from the St. Marys River on Monday morning.

Seitz and another man were kayaking on the river in Adams County south of Fort Wayne on Friday evening when his kayak struck a log jam and overturned.

Conservation Officer Sgt. Patrick Heidenreich told The Decatur Daily Democrat that the river was swollen and muddy following recent rains, making it difficult to locate Seitz. He says Seitz wasn't wearing a life jacket.
