Longmont man collapses, dies on Conundrum Trail near Aspen

ASPEN, Colorado — A man who collapsed and died Friday while hiking on the Conundrum Trail near Aspen has been identified as a 55-year-old from Longmont.

The Aspen Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1sGzsVB ) that Gary Alan Zimmerman collapsed on the trail Friday morning. He was about 4.5 miles below the hot springs.

Flight for Life went to the location and Mountain Rescue Aspen mobilized members to hike to his location.

Flight for Life was able to land approximately one-half mile from Zimmerman, hike to him and confirm that he had died. Mountain Rescue Aspen arrived on the scene soon afterward and moved Zimmerman.

Authorities identified Zimmerman late Saturday.
