JAMESTOWN, New York — Police are investigating a shooting that wounded a 10-year-old child who was hit when multiple gunshots were fired into a western New York home.

Officials in the city of Jamestown say the shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. Monday at a home on East Second Street.

Police say several shots were fired into the residence, hitting the 10-year-old. The child is being treated Tuesday at a Buffalo hospital for injuries that aren't life-threatening.

Officials haven't released the child's gender.
