RALEIGH, North Carolina — The North Carolina Democratic Party rebounded in fundraising during the first half of 2015, even as top Republican legislators kept campaign coffers flush.

The Democratic Party told the State Board of Elections in campaign reports it raised more than $632,000 for the six months ending June 30. That's slightly above $574,000 collected by the state Republican Party. Democrats also had more cash than Republicans entering July.

The state Democratic Party has struggled with fundraising recently as the minority in state government and raised $349,000 the same time two years ago. New Chair Patsy Keever has said she'd make fundraising a priority.

Among Republican lawmakers, Senate leader Phil Berger's campaign reported raising $629,000 while House Speaker Tim Moore's campaign raised $422,000.

Campaign reports were due last Friday.
