BREMERTON, Washington — After a 16-month overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, the aircraft carrier John Stennis is preparing to return to sea.
The crew of 3,000 is getting ready with a five-day training exercise that starts Friday called a "fast cruise." They're operating as if they are cruising through the Pacific, although they're still at the pier in Bremerton.
The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1tpgWyn) if crew members have to leave the ship for some reason they have to request a seat on a simulated flight.
