DES MOINES, Iowa — An Iowa woman who authorities say did nothing to stop her husband from sexually abusing three of their nine children has been paroled after serving less than three years of her 30-year sentence.

The Des Moines Register reports ( ) that the Iowa Parole Board voted 3-0 on Jan. 7 to release the 38-year-old Des Moines woman. She was freed Tuesday. She was sentenced in October 2012 after pleading guilty to three counts of neglect or abandonment.

Her husband was sentenced to 50 years. The Associated Press is not using the couple's names, in order to protect the privacy of the children.

State prisons spokesman Fred Scaletta says the decision to parole the woman was based "on her parole interview, positive institutional adjustment and the institution's recommendation for parole consideration."
