NEW YORK — Police say a 24-year-old Brooklyn man has been arrested after he struck and killed a pedestrian with his car and fled the scene.

They say Michael McBean also struck two cars and caused a chain reaction at a red light as he drove away from the accident Thursday in the East New York neighborhood.

Police say McBean hit 56-year-old Yvette Molina as she was getting into her car. Molina was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

Police say McBean also struck four other cars either directly or indirectly through a chain reaction. The drivers were not seriously injured.

McBean was arrested on charges including leaving the scene of an accident and obstruction of governmental administration.

It wasn't clear if he had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
