TRENTON, New Jersey — Light snow is closing schools and slowing motorists in parts of southern New Jersey.

A storm that has delivered a wintry mix from north Texas into the Carolinas and Virginia brought 3 inches of snow to Wildwood Crest and Cape May Court House.

Some schools in Cape May County have closed.

Observers are reporting little more than 1½ inches in Pleasantville and Atlantic City International Airport.

There are reports of snow in Ocean, Salem, Cumberland and Burlington counties.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. Wednesday for Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Salem, Gloucester, Camden, northwest Burlington and Ocean counties.

Forecasters say light snow is expected to taper off by the middle of the day.
