SAN DIEGO — Officials say a San Diego firefighter suffered burns after partially falling through a roof.
Fire spokesman Lee Swanson told UT San Diego (http://bit.ly/1sNgI1K ) that the firefighter was taken to a hospital Saturday with burns along one side of his waist.
Swanson says a police officer fatally shot a badly wounded dog found in the burning home to end its suffering. Another dog in the backyard was rescued and given oxygen.
Firefighters got the blaze under control in 30 minutes but the home was heavily damaged.
Residents were not home when the fire broke out.
Swanson says the fire was probably electrical and is believed to have started in the living room.
